Black Dress | What to Wear for a Portrait Session
I love making headpieces and fascinators.
In the past, I made them with paper flowers and peacock feathers. You can see my other headpieces in this blog post.
I received an enquiry if I can make one for the Derby race in Melbourne this year, but she was concerned about the weather if my fascinator is made in paper. I asked her to send the photo of her dress and it was black with sheer kind of fabric and so gorgeous. She said that the theme is black and white.

When I was looking at some of the fascinators, I thought that I could use “Place Mats” for my fascinator. I went to the Spotlight and Freedom and I got a couple of luncheon mats. I also bought some ribbons and embellishment from Spotlight wedding craft section.
I just glue them together with a glue gun.
I love the results and I will make some more with different luncheon mats.
I think that those decorative fascinators can make look dresses more like high-end fashion. I am looking forward to shooting someone with this fascinator.
